Immerse yourself in New Zealand's rich history with a guided tour of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Under the tutelage of a knowledgeable docent, learn stories about the region's original Polynesian settlers and admire precious Maori artifacts.

Arrive at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa early in the day to make the most of your full day with the interactive exhibits, hands-on learning opportunities, and annals of Maori artefacts. While perusing the museum's 6 floors, come to understand the complex relationship between the British and the Maori people. In particular, discover how the fraught Treaty of Waitangi—which gave Britain control of New Zealand, while recognizing the Maori people's land and property rights—continues to prove a contentious subject with implications for today.

Your tour introduces you to exquisite examples of art, as well as educational relics that unlock the wonders of New Zealand's natural environment. With experiential exhibits and a chance to pose questions to your guide, this tour is designed for history aficionados of all ages.
